BalloonsMy best friend and I were talking the other day about an important season that is quickly approaching. Football. Football in Oklahoma is what I imagine hockey is to Canadians; but here’s the one problem with football-Its like EVERY Saturday. It doesn’t even matter if your team isn’t playing that week because there’s 20 other games to fill that void. Now, don’t get me wrong, I really like football, I just don’t love it…but there is another season coming up that I do love. Wedding season! The extreme heat has finally left and with that comes girls in white dresses. I’ve grown up here my whole life though, I know how it works and I’ve heard the same complaint enough times to last me a life time. Weddings usually fall on a Saturday, football falls on Saturday-BOOM! The two worlds collide. I’ve sat at more weddings where my date or my brother-in-law is completely annoyed and baffled as to whom would have the gumption to plan their wedding at the same time as an OU football game.  Normal people that’s who…but sometimes OU football games aren’t the only thing that can strike and threaten your big day…

You spend your whole life dreaming of at that one special day and the last thing you need is for anything to go wrong…unfortunately though, sometimes life happens. So what would wedding insurance cover you for? It protects your investment (or your parent’s) from circumstances that are out of your control. What if your groom to be ordered a custom tuxedo and the cleaner accidentally stains it and he had to buy a new one the day before the wedding. What if the wedding venue goes bankrupt the month before and you lose your deposit and have to book it somewhere else? Problems with the location, weather, vendors, sickness or injury are among the major concerns when your big day arrives. A basic insurance policy to cover the loss of your photos, videos, garments, rings, and the deposits can usually be as affordable as $150 to $600 depending on the protection that you want. General liability that would cover you in the event of an accident up to $1,000,000 can be as cheap as $200. The basic policy is there to protect you in the case of the basic occurrences, but the beautiful thing with insurance is that you can customize it to fit your specific needs. There is coverage you can add if a videographer uses faulty equipment and your wedding video doesn’t turn out right. There’s coverage you can add for valuable gifts to repair or replace non-monetary that are lost, damaged, or even stolen.

Your policy for your big day will cover a lot, but it doesn’t cover you in the event of a change of heart or an OU football game…Fortunately for you, OSU fans are loyal and true and will be there to help you celebrate no matter what. Every policy and wedding scenario is different. Be sure to talk to your insurance agent and if they can’t help, ECI is always there.
