Family at beachAs you know, traveling from one place to the next doesn't go smoothly every time. Depending on circumstances, travel companions, age, activities and length, travel insurance can cover cancelled trips, flight delays, lost luggage, liability and/or medical problems related to the trip. Travelers need to purchase the right insurance for the trip. In order to do that, you need to know the types of coverage offered.

Single-Trip: Families, individuals and couples who plan to travel once per year will enjoy the single-trip version of travel insurance.

Multi-Trip: Families, individuals and couples who travel more than once may wish to choose the multi-trip option. The policy lasts a year with a limitation on how long each trip can be.

Worldwide: Travelers who like to visit places outside of their country of residence should use worldwide travel insurance. You may also be able to buy insurance specific to the country you’re visiting.

Family: This bundle is great for anyone who doesn't want to buy individual, single or multi-trip policies for everyone in the family. This type of policy often covers up to two adults and four children.

Group: You and your friends can opt for a group travel insurance policy instead of paying for single or multi-trip policies for each person. This affordable option works if everyone in the policy is leaving the same country of residence and going to the same place.

Winter Sports: Travelers who thrive in snow-covered locations filled with winter activities will love winter sports insurance. This specialty travel insurance can bundle with one of the previously mentioned options. It covers medical treatment for possible injuries stemming from skiing, sledding, snowboarding and ice skating. It may also cover lost or stolen winter equipment.

Backpackers: Lasting between three and eighteen months, backpackers travel insurance is a specialty insurance that bundles easily with another travel insurance option. This coverage is great for travelers who plan to stay in the foreign land for a long time. Your age, destination, travel plans and travel length all factor into the flexible options the insurance provides.

Over 65: Average policies don't cover this age group because of the high risk of illness and high premiums. This specialty insurance is great for senior citizens who cannot get travel insurance from any other policy.
