When you’re looking for Oklahoma City Motorcycle Insurance, there are some special considerations that should be taken. This isn’t just because of the open nature of the vehicle, but because of the pride that owners take in their bikes. While there are some types of insurance that are no brainers, others may seem frivolous until you see what they actually cover.
The two big coverage items that you need to have are comprehensive and collision coverage and Medpay. Comprehensive and collision insurance is going to cover any damages that happen to your bike from accidents to theft. While coverage generally comes with a deductible, it’s far batter to have to pay $500 than to replace your entire ride. The other must have insurance is Medpay. This is medical coverage that will cover injuries you sustain while riding your motorcycle. This is especially important if you don’t have medical coverage through your employer.
While collision and comprehensive and Medpay are must haves, there are other types of insurance that you should seriously consider to make sure you are covered for all types of emergencies. Uninsured and underinsured motorist insurance should be one of the first optional policies that you look into. In the case that you are struck by a someone without insurance, this coverage will cover damages that should have been covered by the other motorist.
Another policy addition that you should consider is accessories coverage. After all, your bike isn’t just a bike; it’s your custom ride. This coverage takes care of damages to your paint job, sidecar, trailers, antennas, radios, helmets and your custom leather. It usually also covers any conversion kits and custom plating. This coverage is best purchased as an extension of your collision and comprehensive coverages. For example, your collision and comprehensive coverage will cover up to $2000 worth of damages to your motorcycle, but your custom work cost $7000. You could add that much more coverage to your bike through this part of the policy.
The best insurance for your bike is going to be a policy that will allow you to get a full replacement bike in the case that yours is totaled. That is, as long as the policy doesn’t cost more over the course of the year than a replacement bike would cost out of pocket. Keep in mind that insurance should be put into place to keep your costs down in the event of an accident.
